Iskaric landscape - thorny Fidetripariteriae

Music: Loscil - Drained Lake

I tested some brushes with this image of thorny fidetripariterians in Aeskareion's fairly forbidding equatorial deserts. The planet's high axial tilt and thick atmosphere are the cause of weather patterns unknown to Earth. Especially the continental equatorial regions are harsh, either hot or cold, windy, and under a drizzle of impacts from the planetary ring. The fidetri's core root reaches far down into the soil and acts as an anchor in the strong wind, while the moisture-collecting roots form a star-like pattern on the ground, holding onto the soil. These elevated areas of growth and life stick out of the eroded landscape like islands.
